Tiny Time Travels: SEA LIFE Arizona Aquarium

SEA LIFE Arizona Aquarium – 5000 S Arizona Mills Cir #145, Tempe, AZ 85285

If you’re in the Phoenix, Arizona area and you’re looking for something interesting to do with your children that’s cool and indoors, then I highly recommend visiting the SEA LIFE Arizona Aquarium which is located inside of the Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe, AZ (next to LEGOLAND Discovery Center). It’s a great place to go when it’s too hot outside plus afterwards, you can tour the mall and go shopping!

If you already have a local zoo or aquarium membership, then make sure to pack your membership cards because this aquarium is apart of the AZA reciprocal program! This means that you’ll be able to visit associated zoos and aquariums for free or half off the price of regular admission which is a great deal! I always recommend calling prior to visiting to make sure the location you’re planning to visit is still apart of the reciprocal program.

Another way you can save is through my favorite app: GROUPON!**

Usually, Groupon offers great deals from daily visit discounts and even deeply discounted memberships! If you are visiting for the first time, then I recommend checking our their website for any discounts.

Lastly, check out the SEA LIFE Arizona website. If you book your tickets directly from their website, you can get them at a discount simply for booking online (which are usually around the same price of the Groupon deal, but Groupon is still cheaper). Aside from the General Tickets and the Annual Passes, SEA LIFE also offers daily Combo Tickets which allows you to visit both the aquarium and LEGOLAND Discovery Center across the hall for a special price. They also offer group tickets, scouts tickets, and other promotions!

They did offer Toddler Day and Homeschool tickets, but after checking their website – those links no longer work so I recommend calling either this location (or your nearest Sea Life Aquarium location) ahead of time to see if they’re still offering select special tickets. In some areas (like Orlando), you can score a resident discount by showing that you’re a resident of Florida.

Note: Children under 3 automatically get in for free!

We opted to go with purchasing our tickets (and after seeing how much fun we had the first time, I purchased a SEA LIFE and LEGOLAND Discovery Center combo annual pass) from Groupon and whenever we were in the Tempe area, it would make our visits there worth it.

Our first visit to SEA LIFE

Upon arrival, we were given the option to take a “welcome” picture which is in front of a green screen. You can pick these souvenir pictures up (for a price) at the end of your visit. We also opted for the SEA LIFE Ranger Mission Pack (it’s $5) which allows the kids learn a little bit more about the animals they see, collect stamps, and at the end of the visit – receive a gift for doing the pamphlet. The girls really enjoyed looking at and learning about all of the animals here.

There’s an area where you can touch the starfish and crabs inside of the tanks plus an outside area where kids can race little boats to see which person will be a winner! Along with the numerous sea creatures they host, they also have a room dedicated to animals found in the desert called the Critter Canyon. We were grateful to be able to see that section as the area was closed, but a employee gave us a personal tour of the room which featured snakes, tarantulas, and tortoises!

There’s also areas where you literally feel as if you’re inside of the tanks with the fish which allows you to feel that much closer to the sea animals. There’s so much that you can do here and once you’re finished with your visit (and have collected your gift after completing the SEA LIFE Ranger Mission Pack), then you’ll see an indoor playground where parents can sit back while their children enjoy themselves. I love this place because it’s not only educational, but makes learning fun for everyone of all ages.
